The Hellinikos Ichnilatis ( Ελληνικός Ιχνηλάτης, Greek hound, Greek Bracke ) is a breed recognized by the FCI from Greece ( FCI group 6, section 1.2, Standard No. 214).

Origin and History

The result is the Hellinikos older by crossing Greek hounds, also of Kritikos Lagonikos, with the Italian Segugio Italiano and the Jura Hound. The breed was recognized on October 16, 1959 by request of the then Kennel Club of Greece, has been the only breed of dog of Greece by the FCI. The Hellinikos Ichnilatis is quite rare even in Greece and outside hardly found.

Description

The very persistent and robust dog is tall and 20 kg in weight to 55 cm. The short, dense hair is sold black and tan. The hanging ears are set high.

Use

In the race description, the fine nose and the great resilience of the Hellinikos Ichnilatis be praised. Alone or as a pack dog he was very active in hunting and lend itself to every level and even rocky, mountainous terrain. His voice was loud and melodious.
