Greek Ice Hockey Championship

The Greek Hockey League is the highest ice hockey league of Greece, is in played with interruptions of the Greek national champion since 1989. The project is organized by the Greek League Hockey Association, which is a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF.

History

The Greek Hockey League was founded in 1989. The first three championships won Aris Salonika, which with a total of four titles by record champions Iptameni Pagodromoi Athens ( six items) is the most successful team in the country. In the 2009 season, seven teams played in the league.

Mode

A season in the Greek league hockey usually lasts from May to June due to the small number game. In the regular season, the teams will play once each against each other, so that each team played six games in 2009. Subsequently, the first four teams for the play- offs, where again meet all the teams once each qualify. Champion is the team that ends the play-offs to square one.
