Greek legislative election, 1946

The parliamentary elections in Greece in 1946 was held on 31 March 1946. It was the conservative and predominantly royalist coalition Inomeni Parataxis Ethnikofronon (United camp of the National -minded people ) with an absolute majority of the votes cast by 55.12 % and 206 of 354 seats won by the Greek parliament.

A decisive factor for the extent of the victory of the election boycott of the Communist Party of Greece was (KKE ). According to observations of foreign election observers had 9 to 20 % of the electorate abstained her voice. The election resulted in a government led by the most conservative- royalist party, the People's Party ( Laiko comma). Prime Minister was the Chairman Konstantinos Tsaldaris.

Parallel to the election on 31 March 1946, the so-called " third round " of the Greek Civil War with the attack of the communist -controlled insurgents against the police station of Litochoro south of Mount Olympus on March 30, 1946.

The parliamentary election was held according to the simple proportional representation. The election was conducted under the elective. Entitled to vote were men and women over 18 years for the right to vote.
