Green County (Kentucky)

Green County is a county located in the state of Kentucky in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Greensburg.

Geography

The County is located just south of the geographic center of Kentucky, is located in the south about 75 miles from Tennessee and has an area of 748 square kilometers without significant water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: LaRue County, Taylor County, Adair County, Metcalfe County and Hart County.

History

Green County was formed on December 20, 1792 from parts of Lincoln County of Nelson County. It was named after Nathaniel Greene, a general in the American Revolutionary War.
