Green Lake County, Wisconsin

The Green Lake County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. In 2010, the County had 19,051 inhabitants and a population density of 20.8 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Green Lake.

Geography

The County is located in the southeastern central Wisconsin. It has an area of 985 square kilometers, of which 68 square kilometers are water surface. In the center of the county lies the eponymous Green Lake. In the north- west the county is drained by the Fox River, a tributary of Lake Michigan.

History

The Green Lake County was formed in 1858 from the Marquette District. It was named, as well as the district capital, according to the Green Lake, with 78 m of the deepest lake in Wisconsin.
