Greene County (Missouri)

The Greene County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. In 2010, the County had 275 174 inhabitants and a population density of 157.4 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Springfield.

Geography

The County is located in the middle of the southwest Missouri in the Ozarks and each about 80 km away from Arkansas in the south and Kansas in the west, it has an area of 1755 square kilometers, of which seven square kilometers of water surface. The Greene County borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History

The Greene County was formed on January 2, 1833 from parts of Crawford County. It was named after Nathanael Greene, a general in the American Revolutionary War.
