The landing points of the cable include

  • Nuuk, Greenland
  • Qaqortoq, Greenland
  • Landeyjarsandur, Iceland

The cable is operated by Tele Greenland, the Greenland government - Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier. History

Greenland has been connected to the laying of the cable through a 2000- km-long satellite and microwave link ( from the mountains above the coast ), on the also ran the Internet traffic. The State Tele Greenland has successively connected all the cities with more than 50 residents to a new communications network, including mobile phone masts in the coastal towns. ( Because of the permafrost overland routes are generally not laid as cable, but realized as microwave links. ) Accompanying information portals of local health care and agriculture be set up - this is seen as a prerequisite for independence of Greenland by the Danish protectorate in the political sense, in which the management possibilities uses of the Internet. The external communication was inadequate, since in recent years, Internet traffic has doubled each year. However, the new submarine cable has a capacity that goes far beyond the needs of Greenland ( 7000 -fold over the previous connection). It hopes to sell the additional capacity for the connection between North America and Europe.
