Greg Chappell

Gregory Stephen Chappell, MBE ( born August 7, 1948 in Unley, South Australia ) is a former Australian cricketer. Chappell comes from a family of cricketers. Even his grandfather Vic Richardson and his brothers Ian Chappell and Trevor Chappell played Test cricket for Australia.

Career

Greg Chappell played during his career 87 Test matches for Australia, where he scored a total of 7110 runs ( 53.86 runs per wicket ). He is one of only nine Australian players who reached a career average of 50 runs per wicket. A total of 48 tests 1975-1983 Chappell ran on as captain of the Australian Test team. His first test for Australia, he played in December 1970 against England in Perth. His last test denied Greg Chappell in January 1984 against the Pakistani team in Sydney. In this test, he broke the then existing Australian record for the most goals career test runs. This record was previously held by Don Bradman. In addition, Greg Chappell continued his career end the record for the most accomplished Catches a fielder in Test cricket, a total of 122 Furthermore denied Greg Chappell 74 One- Day International cricket matches ( ODIs ) for Australia, where he per 2331 runs ( 40.18 Runs Wicket ) achieved. He was also a member of the Australian team which reached the final of the 1975 Cricket World Cup.

Others

From 2005 to 2007 Greg Chappell was the coach of the Indian cricket national teams. In 1973 he was elected one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year. In 2009, Greg Chappell was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
