Greg Kurstin
Greg Kurstin ( born May 14, 1969 in Los Angeles ) is an American multi-instrumentalist, and together with Inara George since December 2006, the Trip-Hop-/Electro-Pop-Musik-Projekt The Bird and the Bee.
Career
Even as a child played Kurstin on the piano; thus he was able to learn even more easier instruments (organ, keyboards and guitar). During his high school, he played in several bands Electric.
In New York he studied music, became a student of Jaki Byard and pianist of jazz musician Charles Mingus. In addition, Greg spent a lot of time but also with playing Bossa Nova.
After Los Angeles returned, he worked with Beck and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, was a member of the musical group Geggy Tah, who received from David Byrne a contract under the Talking Heads Label " Luako Bop " and published between 1994 and 2001 three albums.
His solo album, Action Figure Party (2001) took Greg Kurstin on with artists such as Flea ( Red Hot Chili Peppers ), Sean Lennon, Jose Pasillas ( Incubus ) and Miho Hatori ( Cibo Matto ), added on each song by Gabrial McNair (No Doubt ), David Ralicke ( Beck), Yogi ( Buckcherry ), Daniel Shulman ( garbage ), Fima Ephron ( Gil Scott - Heron), Mike Elizondo ( Dr. Dre / Eminem ). Yuval Gabay ( Soul Coughing ), Gary Novak ( Chick Corea, Alanis Morissette ), Brian Riding cell (Air / Redd Kross ), and John Molo ( Phil Lesh and Friends ).
Furthermore Kurstin produced several songs by Lily Allen, Peaches, Pink, Karen O, The Flaming Lips, The Shins, All Saints, Marina and the Diamonds, Sia, Natasha Bedingfield, Sophie Ellis -Bextor, Jamelia and Har Mar Superstar.
The Bird and the Bee is the current project of Kurstin ( "the bird" ) and Inara George ( " the Bee ").
