Greg Zanon

Greg Zanon ( born June 5, 1980 in Burnaby, British Columbia) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. Most recently, he played for the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League on the position of the defender.

Career

Greg Zanon played from 1999 to 2003 for the University of Nebraska at Omaha in the CCHA. During this time, Zanon was selected in the fifth round at 156th position in the NHL Entry Draft in 2000 by the Ottawa Senators. On 9 July 2003, he signed as a free agent with the Nashville Predators, where he played three seasons for the Milwaukee Admirals in the American Hockey League. In the 2003 /04 season he won the Admiral also the Calder Cup. At his first NHL use he came in the 2005/06 season, but he played four games for the Nashville Predators.

From the season 2006/ 07 he was an integral part in the defense against the Nashville Predators. On 1 July 2009 he signed as a free agent contract with the Minnesota Wild, who transferred him on 27 February 2012 in exchange for Steven Kampfer of the Boston Bruins. After his expiring contract was not renewed, Zanon signed July 1, 2012 a new two- year contract with the Colorado Avalanche.
