Gregg Landaker
Gregg Landaker is an American sound engineer, the British Academy Film Awards ( BAFTA ) won three Academy Award for Best Sound as well as two more times for the best sound.
Life
Landaker began his career as a sound engineer in the film industry in Hollywood in 1979 with the film Nutcracker Fantasy and worked until today in the creation of over 190 films.
His first Oscar for best sound he won at the Academy Awards in 1981 along with Bill Varney, Steve Maslow and Peter Sutton for the film The Empire Strikes Back (1980 ), the fifth part of Star Wars. In 1982 he also won with Varney and Maslow and Roy Charman his second Oscar in this category for Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981 ).
In 1992, he was with Michael Minkler and Death A. Maitland for these Oscar for JFK - nominated Tatort Dallas ( 1991) and won for the sound in this movie along with Maitland, Wylie Stateman, Michael D. Wilhoit and Michael Minkler his first BAFTA Film Award for the best sound.
For the movie Speed (1994 ) he won in 1995 with both Steve Maslow, Bob Beemer and David MacMillan Academy Award for Best Sound as well as with Stephen Hunter Flick, Maslow, Beemer and MacMillan BAFTA Film Award for Best Sound. In addition, he was with Maslow, Beemer and MacMillan, nominated for the sound speed in for the price of the Cinema Audio Society, called the CAS award.
Another nomination for the Oscar for best sound followed along with Maslow and Keith A. Wester 1996 Waterworld (1995 ) as well as in 1997 with Maslow, Kevin O'Connell and Geoffrey Patterson for Twister (1996). In addition, he was nominated Maslow, O'Connell and Patterson for Twister for another CAS Award for outstanding achievements for the sound in a movie.
For U- 571 (2000) Landakers followed so far last nominations namely the one with Maslow, Rick Kline and Ivan Sharrock at the Academy Awards in 2001 for an Oscar for Best Sound, on the other hand with the three foregoing also for another CAS Award.
Most recently he worked on the design of the sound for the movies Journey 2: The Mysterious with Iceland and Forever Thine, both in 2012 will have their movie premiere.
