Gregor Robertson (politician)

Gregor Robertson (born 1965 ) is a Canadian politician and businessman. Since 15 November 2008 he has been mayor of the city of Vancouver. Previously, he was a deputy in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia.

Robertson studied English at Colorado College. In 1994 he was co-founder of the medium-sized company Happy Planet, the organic food (mainly fruit juices and soups) manufactures. He joined the Social Democratic British Columbia New Democratic Party and was a candidate in 2005 in the constituency of Vancouver - Fraserview successfully for a seat in the provincial parliament. Robertson sat down mainly a for education and small and medium-sized enterprises.

In February 2008, Robertson announced that he would run for mayor of Vancouver. He secured the nomination of the local party Vision Vancouver and came back in June 2008 as a provincial deputy. In the local elections on 15 November 2008, he received 55% of votes, while Vision Vancouver won an absolute majority in the City Council. In Robertson's first tenure, the 2010 Winter Olympics, which were held in Vancouver and surrounding areas.
