Career

The Hamburg music producer Frank Peterson came in the early 1990s with the idea to mix conventional Gregorian music with modern popular music, and founded with Michael Cretu, the project Enigma. Under the name Gregorian he produced after the success of the first Enigma album, an album called Sadisfaction.

End of the 1990s he took up this idea again and instructed his team of producers Michael Soltau, Jan- Eric Kohrs and Carsten Heusmann to let sing current pieces of pop music of classically trained British singers. The vocal style is similar to the Gregorian chant, of which the group name is derived. Consisting of twelve singers group ushered in a new classical / pop crossover music style, referred to as Gregorian Pop or spa sound. Artverwandt is also the area of ambient or chill-out.

1999 saw the first album Masters of Chant by the record company edel music and became an international success. The following albums followed at annual intervals. Until the album Masters of Chant IV of the style of the group remained the same, only with the album The Dark Side, which was released in November 2004, the style the group developed more for rock music. 2006 published the works of Chapter V and The Christmas Chants. The latter consisted exclusively of folk, but sung by well-known rock and pop stars and Christmas carols written. On March 30, 2007 also appeared in the DVD Live Castle Cross Stone.
