Gregory C. Johnson

Gregory Carl " Ray J" Johnson ( born July 30, 1954 in Seattle, Washington, United States) is an American astronaut. He should not be confused with his colleague Gregory Harold Johnson.

Start of career

Johnson is a captain in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He studied aviation and aerospace engineering at the University of Washington and graduated in 1977 with the Bachelor.

NASA

Johnson had been set in 1990 as a research pilot at the Johnson Space Center of NASA. He tried to get into the 12 astronaut group.

In 1998 he was, however, elected to the 17th astronaut group of NASA and designed as a space shuttle pilot.

STS -125

Johnson was pilot of STS- 125, which launched last flight maintenance of the Hubble Space Telescope on May 11, 2009. The landing took place on 24 May 2009 at Edwards Air Force Base.

Private

Gregory Johnson is divorced and has two children. His hobbies are jogging and cycling.
