Gregory Nava

Gregory Nava ( born April 10, 1949 in San Diego, California as James Gregory Nava) is an American film director, screenwriter and film producer. He became internationally known through the movies El Norte, My Family, Selena - An American Dream or Bordertown.

Life and career

Gregory Nava was born in 1949 in San Diego, California. He attended the U.C.L.A. Film School in Los Angeles in 1972 and gave his directorial debut with the short film The Journal of Diego Rodriguez Silva. Since the mid- 1970s Nava has worked in the film industry in various capacities. For the romantic drama The Confessions of Amans in 1976 he took over the function of the director, the screenwriter and co - producer alongside Anna Thomas. In addition, he assumed nor the function of the cameraman and the unique of the cutter. 1983 was the adventure drama El Norte where he again took up the director's chair and who also worked on the script.
