Works

Gregory of Narek was a learned monk who knew both the Greek sciences as well as in Armenian literature. He wrote religious writings which drew on mystical experience, for example, an interpretation of the Song of Songs. He took the view that the true goal of life is to merge with God's nature. Mesrop Mashtots addition, Eznik of Kolb, Nerses Schnorhali, Khatschatur of Taron and Nerses of Gregory of Narek Lambron is one of the fathers of the Armenian liturgy. His "Book of complaints " is regarded as exemplary works of medieval Armenian poetry. Even today, his prayer book is read by Narek Armenian faithful.
