Greivis Vásquez

Greivis Vásquez ( born January 16, 1987 in Caracas ) is a Venezuelan basketball player. Currently plays the guard in the NBA for the Toronto Raptors.

From 2006 to 2010 Vásquez played for the University of Maryland. After three successful years, he signed up for the NBA Draft in 2009, but decided in spite of good prospects for it to compete for another year for his college. In his last season he was voted Player of the Year in the Atlantic Coast Conference and won the Bob Cousy Award as the best point guard in college basketball.

According to these honors, he signed up for the NBA Draft and was selected in 2010 to 28 out of the Memphis Grizzlies. In his rookie season he played in 70 matches an average of 12.3 minutes and came up with 3.6 points and 2.2 assists. With the Grizzlies, he reached the second round of the playoffs and failed there with 3:4 to the Oklahoma City Thunder. After the season, Vásquez was transferred in exchange for Quincy Pondexter to the New Orleans Hornets.

On February 8, 2013 Vásquez scored in the game against the Atlanta Hawks, the first triple-double of his career.

On July 10, 2013 Vásquez moved to the Sacramento Kings. As part of this transfer also Terrel Harris and Robin Lopez moved from New Orleans to the Portland Trail Blazers, Jeff Withey came from Portland to New Orleans, Tyreke Evans left the Sacramento Kings in the direction of New Orleans and the Kings got two second-round picks and cash from Portland.

For the Kings Vasquez ran on until November 2013. He was then transferred in the course of a trade to the Toronto Raptors.
