GRES Estação Primeira de Mangueira

Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Samba Primeira de Mangueira Estação ( German as: "leisure committee samba school Mangueira first station ", Mangueira is the Portuguese name of the mango tree ) belongs to the Portela 's most traditional samba schools in Rio de Janeiro. During Carnival in Rio play several hundred musicians Samba Enredo to the dances as a large group.

The samba school was founded on 28 April 1928 as a third of its kind by the musician Agenor de Oliveira and took part in 1929 for the first time at the carnival. The professionally run club also performs social tasks in the favelas, which have yielded the bulk of the more than a thousand members.
