The Alexandra Stadium is a football stadium in Crewe, Cheshire. It is the home of the English football team Crewe Alexandra. The stadium was opened in 1898 and has a capacity of 10,066 seats. The stadium is known as Gresty Road in Crewe.

History

The largest number of spectators witnessed the Alexandra Stadium on January 30, 1960, when 20,000 spectators to the FA Cup game against Tottenham Hotspur were present. Until the beginning of the season 1999/2000, the stadium consisted almost exclusively of standing room and was subsequently modernized for several million pounds. Between 2006 and 2009 an average of about 5,500 spectators attended the home games of Crewe Alexandra. In 2007, the club sold the naming rights of a grandstand at a local company.
