Gretl Schörg

Gretl Schörg ( born January 17, 1914 in Vienna, † January 4, 2006 ibid; actually Margarete Schörg ) was an Austrian operetta singer and actress. Schörg played at Vienna's Raimund Theater, at the Volksoper in Vienna Kammerspielen and the Theater in der Josefstadt.

Life

Schörg first learned the job of typist. At age 23, she won a beauty contest and was " Danube Queen ". Schörg received first theater roles in Vienna, Karlovy Vary, Ostrava and Marienbad. With a role in the musical comedy The Dreimaederlhaus her voice was discovered. She sang several operettas at the City Theatre Ústí nad Labem. In 1940 Schörg went to the Metropol Theater in Berlin. During the Second World War she played small film roles; after the war, she became known as a co-star of Johannes Heesters and Romy Schneider. In the first half of the 1950s she performed in several productions of the operetta WDR Cologne under Franz Marszalek. More rarely, they could also be heard as a speaker in radio plays, such as 1959 in one of the famous Paul Temple radio plays by Francis Durbridge, namely Paul Temple and the Spencer.

For health reasons, limited Gretl Schörg their activities in the early 1960s and ended in the early 1970s her career. They lived in retirement in Vienna, where she died in 2006. Your honorary dedicated tomb is located on the Hernalser Cemetery ( Group E number 129 ). In the Vienna cemetery administration is, however, listed as Margaret Pfreimer.

In April 2004 her the Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art was awarded First Class.
