Greucourt

Greucourt is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Greucourt situated at an altitude of 212 m above sea level, 1.5 km south of Fresne -Saint- Mamès and about 35 km north- northwest of the city of Besançon (air line). The road line village extends to the southwest, the department, in Saônebecken, on the western edge of the Talniederung Romaine.

The area of ​​2.68 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the rolling countryside of south-east of the Saône. The northern boundary runs along the Romaine, which here flows through a wide Talniederung northwest to the Saône. From the river, the municipality's area extends southward over a 20 m high steep slope on the adjacent plateau, the average is 225 m and is used for agriculture. The plateau is composed of sediments of the upper Jurassic period. With 238 m find the highest mountains of Greucourt is achieved. The southern boundary runs along the Ruisseau des Ecornes, a side stream of Jouanne which opens a little above Greucourt in the Romaine.

To Greucourt a part of the hamlet Estravaux part (209 m) at the Romaine. Neighboring communities of Greucourt are Fresne -Saint- Mamès in the north, the east, and La Vezet Vernotte and Saint- Gand in the south.

History

In the Middle Ages Greucourt belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Vezet. Together with the Franche -Comté Greucourt came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. In the hamlet Estravaux, already in 1242 is documented, was in the 19th century blast furnace.

Attractions

The attractions of Greucourt include the statue of St. Anthony (18th century) and a Lavoir (19th century), which once served as well, wash and livestock watering.

Population

With 88 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) is one of the smallest municipalities Greucourt of the Haute- Saône. Once the population has consistently had in the first half of the 20th century in the range between 100 and 130 people, a population decrease was recorded since the early 1960s.

Economy and infrastructure

Was Greucourt until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road, leading from Fresne -Saint- Mamès to La Chapelle -Saint- Quillain. Further road links exist with Les Bâties, Vezet and Vaudey.
