Feenwaldsänger ( Basileuterus fraseri )

The Feenwaldsänger ( Basileuterus fraseri ) is a small passerine bird in the family of warblers ( Parulidae ).

Feenwaldsänger reach a body length of fourteen inches and weigh around 11 to 12 grams. The wing length is 6.6 inches in the male, the female, 6.2 to 6.5 centimeters. Feenwaldsänger adults and fledglings from the first year wearing a dark blue-gray head feathers. The subspecies fraseri Basileuterus f has a black crown with yellow stripes; the subspecies Basileuterus f ochraceicrista an orange-red crown. About the eye to the beak base out there is a white spot. The top plumage is dark bluish gray; the underside yellow plumage.

The distribution area extends from Ecuador to Peru. Feenwaldsänger inhabit arid subtropical and tropical forests and moist lowland forests up to an altitude of about 1900 meters.

There are two recognized subspecies:

  • Basileuterus fraseri fraseri PL Sclater, 1884 - In the southwestern Ecuador and northwestern Peru
  • Basileuterus fraseri ochraceicrista Chapman, 1921 - Ecuador
