Features

The gray cheeks throttle reaches a height 17 to 19 inches. The wingspan is 28 to 32 centimeters. The weight varies 26-34 grams.

It is colored olive - brown on the upper side and lower side white with gray flanks. The breast is gray - brown with darker spots. The bird has pink legs, a weak gray eyes ring and gray cheeks.

Occurrence

The gray cheeks throttle breeds in the spruce forests of Alaska and northern Canada and winters in northern South America.

Behavior

The bird is looking on the ground for insects and berries. The nest usually consists of four eggs. These have a pale green or pale blue color and are spotted with red. It usually breeds only the female parent bird. The incubation period is only 12 to 14 days. The young birds fledge after 11 to 13 days. Gray cheeks chokes big draw only one clutch per year.
