Grignolino

Grignolino is a red wine grape that is grown primarily in Italy in Piedmont. The grape yields, expanded varietal wine, a light, refreshing red wine (or rosé ), who is young and cool best drinkable. The cultivation of the grape variety is recommended in the provinces of Cuneo, Asti and Alessandria. Smaller plantings are also in California (→ Viticulture in California with the appellations Napa Valley AVA and Santa Clara Valley AVA).

DOC appellations are Grignolino del Monferrato DOC Casalese and Grignolino d' Asti DOC. These wines are made at least 90% of Grignolino, up to 10% may be mitvinifiziert freisa. In small quantities Grignolino also the wines Baveno, Malvasia di Casorzo d' Asti and Rubino di Cantavenna may be added.
