Grinding machine

Grinding machines are originally by hand or foot powered tools for smoothing surfaces or for removing coatings on surfaces. Later, the machine got a steam drive. At the present time they are mostly operated with electric power or compressed air.

Depending on the material - wood, concrete, natural stone, glass, metal or plastic - and the hardness of grinding wheels are used from different carriers and with abrasives on the application.

There are hand-held machines such as:

  • Belt sanders and compact belt sander
  • Angle
  • Sander (also random orbit sanders and delta sanders )
  • Disc sander

The following machines are in use for use in industry and handicraft:

  • Single- grinding
  • Planetary grinding
  • Belt sanders
  • Wide belt sanders ( used in woodworking and have a revolving abrasive belt )
  • Stroke sanders
  • Edging machines ( used for edge sanding of wood workpieces )
  • Wall sanding
  • Surface grinding (grinding of flat surfaces )
  • Grinders ( Edit cylindrical workpieces or grinding of hollow bodies )
  • Thread Grinding
  • Gear grinding
  • Profile grinding machines
  • Jig grinders
  • Spindle grinding machines
  • Lots of grinding spindle
  • Stone Grinding
  • Statorschleifmaschinen (for example for the grinding of turbine casings )
  • Tool grinding machines. These are usually operated automatically. They are used for sharpening drill bits, knife blades, milling and turning tools running.

The highest form of automation is the grinding machine with measurement control, measured at regular intervals and the grinding process is adjusted subsequently. The measurement can be scanned or selectively. In addition, the abrasive article is brushed and rotated during the grinding.

Security

In industrial grinding machines used in Germany an annual safety checks to UVV inspection is provided ( according to guidelines of professional associations) in conjunction with the VDE regulations. Wearing safety glasses when commercial operation is a prerequisite proper operation.
