Grinzens

Grinzens is a municipality with 1346 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Innsbruck Land, Tyrol ( Austria ). The ( a namesake comprehensive KG ) municipality is located in the judicial district of Innsbruck.

Geography

Grinzens is situated on a low mountain range southwest of Innsbruck, at the entrance of Sellraintal. The municipal area is limited by the Melach and the transmitter Bach. The elongated colonization extends mainly along a road that runs from Sell Rain ( Neder with Gert clean and Brandögg ) to the western end Axams ( Unterbichl and Bachl ) and in the local area in the side, parallel to the Neder, forks. Above the Anger can be speaks of Obergrinzens, below, at the village church of Untergrinzens. History

The church is first mentioned in 1286 as " Graz Innes ". Prior to today's local area probably served as a grazing ground. The records of the monastery in 1400 Frauenchiemsee call nine farms in Grinzens. The leading south Senderstal was around this time also settled permanently. Until 1811 Grinzens was a part of the neighboring municipality Axams before by the Tyrolean uprising of 1809 the Bavarian occupation Grinzens rose to politically independent municipality. Ecclesiastical Grinzens in 1956 became a separate parish.

Recent Developments

From an agricultural community a residential community has become. The greatest influx Grinzens experienced in the 60s and 70s of the last century. After that, the population growth leveled off rapidly; Since 2002 the population has remained virtually constant at just under 1,300 residents. Many residents commute to their place of work. Grinzens has to deal with the typical problems of infrastructure surrounding community in the catchment area ( "richer " ) from Innsbruck. Lack of industrial infrastructure is one of the financially weakest Grinzens municipalities of Tyrol.

In specially adapted premises of the youth room is very popular with the Grinzner youth, but also with young people from other communities of the Western Central Mountains. Due to its success, the youth room Grinzens has gained over regional role model.

2007 the congregation at the Climate Alliance of Tyrol and the Local Agenda 21. By the spring of 2008, together with the population of a model for sustainable development of the community was developed. The implementation should be started after the official certification by the state of Tyrol in October 2008. Specific projects have been implemented but not yet by 2011.

At the same time the council decided majority to advance the village development without the involvement of the population: For a scheduled nine-hole golf course - mainly on Grinzner municipal government - funded Grinzens the Environmental Impact Assessment ( EIA) to a considerable extent with and participates in the costs for design and construction of the golf course as part of the " Holiday Villages Golf GmbH ".

In the same year MPreis opened in a pilot project in Grinzens a " minimal " local supplier: It offered the same products at the same prices as in the big supermarkets the chain. Only when the number of items offered compromises to be made and performed more than 2,000 articles instead of the usual 8000.

Politically, it was at the local council elections in 2004, a reversal by the first-time participation of an independent list Grinzens ( OCT ), which reached 6 of the 13 seats. The rest went to candidates to the ÖVP, which ( at about 1000 voters ) maintained an absolute majority by a margin of 39 votes. In June 2008, the longtime Mayor Charles Gasser has resigned after 28 years of service. His successor was the former Deputy Mayor Anton Bucher, who was able to defend the absolute majority again in the municipal elections, 2010 - OCT and SPÖ ( with the list name GLG " Community list Grinzens " ) won three seats.

Culture and sights

Despite the proximity to Axamer Lizum Grinzens is touristy little developed - but has managed to preserve its originality in return. A regionally popular destination is the 7 km long toboggan run into Senderstal Kemater Alm lying on Grinzener municipality.

About regional and cultural importance was Grinzens with two open-air performances of the local theater club " transmitter stage":

  • " Tyrolean freedom " - a new view of the Tyrolean uprising movement of 1809 in summer 2007

Part of the award-winning film " March " by Klaus Händl were filmed in Grinzens with the participation of Grinzner actresses and actors.
