Gripport

Gripport is a commune of 248 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Nancy, for Canton Haroué and founded in 1998, community association Saintois.

Geography

The community Gripport lies on the Moselle, about 20 kilometers southwest of Luneville and 30 kilometers southeast of Nancy. West of the Moselle River runs parallel to the Canal des Vosges with two in the field of Gripport lying locks. Between the canal and Moselle, two ponds were created, some of which are used for fish farming. The adjoining the south by the department of Vosges municipal area rises from the Moselle valley to the west in a steep section of about 100 meters in altitude. The village belonged in the Middle Ages the rule of charm, in the year 1300 by Duke Frederick III. was used by Lorraine. The parish Gripport was a dependency of the chapter in Remiremont.
