Grobengereuth

Grobengereuth is a municipality in the administrative community Oppurg in the Thuringian Saale- Orla-Kreis.

Location

Grobengereuth and Daumitsch lie on a plateau of the expiring north East Thuringian Slate Mountains. The districts of both places are annularly surrounded by forest land. About the country road in 2359 of goat rear with access to the national road 281 in Oppurg have places moderate traffic connection.

History

On June 24, 1500 Grobengereuth and was on 18 July 1223 the district Daumitzsch first mentioned.

Culture and sights

Historical monuments

In the cemetery of the local part Daumitsch reminds a grave monument to the buried there twelve concentration camp prisoners who were murdered by SS men during a death march from Buchenwald concentration camp after the Flossenbiirg that led through the village.
