Grosio

Grosio is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 4585 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Province of Sondrio in the Lombardy region. The community is located about 34 kilometers northeast of Sondrio, on the border with Switzerland and to the province of Brescia. Grosio is located on the Adda. A few kilometers north-east lies the Stelvio National Park.

Economy and Transport

A hydroelectric power plant on the Adda produces a power output of more than 100 MW. Grosio Located on the Strada Statale 38 del Passo Stelvio, which leads coming from Lake Como to the Stelvio Pass and on to Merano and Bolzano.

Grosio maintains an intra- Italian partnership with the municipality of Lastra a Signa in the province of Florence.
