Grosotto

Gros Otto is a municipality with 1628 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Italian province of Sondrio in the Lombardy region, located in the upper Valtellina.

The neighboring municipalities are Grosio, Mazzo di Valtellina, Vervio, Monno and the Swiss municipalities Brusio and Poschiavo.

The town has few attractions, as it has been in its history often looted and burned. The parish church is dedicated to St. Eusebius, there are also a chapel dedicated to Saint Rocco and an oratorio. The Palazzo Omodei was the seat of Robustelli family that was wealthy in the area. Its most prominent representative was Knight Giacomo Robustelli, one of the leaders in Veltliner murder and during the Grisons turmoil temporarily governor of Valtellina.

1487 built the church, the Santuario della Beata Vergine delle Grazie, to celebrate the sparing of the village through the Grisons, which was ascribed to a miraculous intervention of Mary. The present building dates from the 18th century.
