Gross metropolitan product

The gross metropolitan product ( engl. Gross Metropolitan Product ( GMP) ) is a National identification number that is used among others in the United States to calculate the economic performance of metropolitan regions. In analogy to the gross domestic product is defined as the market value of all final goods and services produced or offered in the underlying region. The reference is to a time period, which is usually a calendar year.

In the United States, the GMP is calculated for all metropolitan areas in the United States annually by the Bureau of Economic Analysis within the Department of Commerce. For example, Honolulu was in 2008 at No. 51
