Great Schwechten is a district of the county town of Stendal in Saxony -Anhalt ( Germany ).

Geography

Great Schwechten in the Altmark is located 2 km west of the lamp and about 15 km north of the Hanseatic City of Stendal.

History

With large Schwechten connects directly the so-called " Krepe ", of which there is evidence, traditions and a legend. Station Peulingen

In Peulingen there were 1908 to 1985 a railway station Stendal's light railway on the route from Stendal to Arend. Originally, the station system from a platform on the village road and a south-east which are situated further loading track with charging road. With the construction of the track direction Bismark connection station in 1916 originated in Peulingen a wedge Station. The platform was moved to the triangle between the two routes south of the road charging. There was also the reception building, which still stands and is used as a residence. In the course of the expansion, the tracks have been extended. It created three more tracks south of the loading point, one of which was broken but again very soon. Operationally was Peulingen since a separation station. With decommissioning and dismantling of the track after Bismark terminal station, which had meanwhile been renamed to Hohenwulsch, Peulingen was again a through station.
