Große Arnspitze

Large Arnspitze

Pd5

The Great Arnspitze ( 2196 m) is the main peak of the Arnspitzgruppe in Wettersteingebirge. It is located west of Scharnitz and its peak the border between Germany and Austria.

Ways

Besides the Gratüberschreitung (see Arnspitzgruppe ), there are three access routes, all of which meet at the Arnspitzhütte, from where you can easily reach the top. The normal ( AV path 851 ) leads from Scharnitz by the eastern flank. Less steep is the slope of the High Southwest saddle ( 1495 m), which can be reached from Scharnitzer district Gießenbach or from the Leutasch. The longest but also the most beautiful ascent is from the north via Riedenberg Charter ( 1450 m), which is accessible from the Leutasch or Mittenwald. Since Mittenwald, Scharnitz and Gießenbach are connected by rail ( Mittenwaldbahn ), overruns are easily possible.

The Arnspitzgruppe is a dry limestone massif. Also at the Arnspitzhütte (1955 m, shelter, uncultivated ) there is only collected rainwater.
