Geography

Geographical location

Grosselfingen is located in the foothills of the Swabian Alb almost ten kilometers east of the county town Balingen.

Community structure

The municipality Grosselfingen include the market town ( market towns ) Grosselfingen, the princely domain Upper Homburgerhof and the houses Altersberg and Bisinger mountain.

In the north of the district lies the hallway Hagenbach, which points to a Outbound village. Hagenbach is suspected as the seat of 1225 mentioned by Albert Haginbach.

History

The first traces of human settlement activity on the mountian date from the Neolithic period (4000-2000 BC). In today populated urban area was found in 1960 traces Alamannic graves that probably dates back to the 7th or 8th century. The fertile soils in the northern district, moist flood plains and the two creeks in place today are likely to have favored a settlement of the Alemanni.

Grosselfingen belongs together with Hechingen, Burladingen, Bisingen, Rangendingen Haigerloch and Jungingen as part of the Zoning and Planning Neckar-Alb region to the central region Hechingen.

Economy and infrastructure

Grosselfingen is primarily a residential community with even strong agricultural structures, two-thirds of the district area is used for agriculture. For the approximately 750 employees, there are 280 jobs in the town, 640 citizens find work outside the community and 160 Foreign work in place.

The public transport is guaranteed by the integrated transport system Neckar -Alb -Donau ( naldo ). The municipality is located in the comb 332

Attractions

  • Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows ( Wendelinskapelle or images Häusle ) in the brotherhood 60, at the entrance to the historic market square. Plastered hall building with semicircular apse and a retracted roof skylights, year 1737 above the arched portal.
  • Haimburg ruin, castle ruins 2.5 km west of Grosselfingen when Haim courtyard, named after the reign of the Lords of Hainburg boys Mayrhofen
  • Castle ruins " Neuhaus " at the western end of the " upper village" of Grosselfingen, former administrative center of the reign of Hainburg

Regular events

  • The " honorable court jester to Grosselfingen " is a unique in the German speaking almost nocturnal home game with over 500 years of unbroken tradition. The court jester Brotherhood referred in its founding statutes of 1623 on an existing long tradition. The performance will take place irregularly every three to seven years on Schmotzigen Dunnschtig and the previous Sunday on the marketplace in the Middle Ages, built by the Lords of boys Mayrhofen instead.
