Großer Stern

The Big Star is the central square in the Tiergarten in the Tiergarten district of Berlin's Mitte district.

History

The place was under Elector Friedrich III. ( 1701 Frederick I, King in Prussia ) was applied to 1698 through the Hofjäger Hemmrich as a hunting lodge. As of 1742 the Great Star was developed in the course of remodeling of the zoo by Knobelsdorffstraße and from 1833 to 1840 by Peter Joseph to a representative place. From the mid- 18th to the early 19th century there was a group of sandstone statues of ancient gods, called " The Dolls ".

Today's expansion

Today it hit several major traffic arteries of the city:

  • The 17th June Street west across the Ernst- Reuter-Platz, as Bismarkstraße or emperor dam to the Theodor -Heuss-Platz and continue as a military road

Special Events
