Grothusenkoog

Grothusenkoog (Danish Grothusen Kog ) is a municipality in the district of North Friesland Schleswig -Holstein.

Geography and transport

Grothusenkoog is located approximately 13 km west of Tonning on the eiderstedt Peninsula. North extend the federal highway 202 and the railway line from Tonning to St. Peter- Ording.

Grothusenkoog is 327 ha in size and 22 inhabitants, the smallest municipality in the eiderstedt and belongs to the parish of World / Vollerwiek.

History

In January 1693 the country was handed over to the Eider to the Lieutenant General Otto Johann Freiherr von Grothusen for faithful service of Duke Christian Albrecht.

In order to dam up this country, Grothusen several financially strong partners, including the reeve and Staller Ove Lorenz from the world, in 1697, named after the polder Grothusen inherited was looking for.
