Ground dipole

A Bodendipol is a special form of a dipole antenna for the transmission of radio signals especially at extremely low frequencies, the long waves or even lower ( Extremely Low Frequency ).

A Bodendipol consists of a fed in the middle of electric wire, the ends of which are grounded low as possible as far as possible mutual distance.

Bodendipole have a very low efficiency (less than 1 %) and will only be used as a transmitting antenna in professional communications engineering, when conventional antennas for economic and technical reasons, can not be realized because antenna sizes usually result from the wavelength and this in the case of extreme long waves km range (up to well over 1000 miles).

By completing an end with a ground resistance and move the feed point of the Bodendipol receives a preferential orientation. The arrangement is called Beverage antenna. This long wire antenna is only possible for rather higher frequencies, eg 160 m band and smaller wavelengths.
