Group of death

The term group of death or hammer group referred to in sports jargon - especially in the tabloids - a preliminary group of a tournament in which ( almost) meet only strong teams.

As the outcome of a group of four mostly two teams qualify for the next round, for example, this alarmist, martial name is also used when three of the four teams are so strong that they are counted among the favorites. In this case, it seems hopeless for the ( subjective and / or objective ) weakest team in the group to have two of the three strong teams behind them. Conversely, the risk increases to excrete in the preliminary round for a been considered a stronger team.
