Groupe Bruxelles Lambert
Groupe Bruxelles Lambert ( GBL), listed in the BEL20 in Brussels, is a Belgian holding company and one of the biggest companies in Belgium.
The holding company owns, among others, the following shares (24 July 2009):
- Total ( 4.0% of capital)
- GDF Suez ( 5.2% of capital)
- Lafarge ( 21.1% of capital)
- Pernod Ricard (8.8% of capital)
- Imerys (30.7% of capital)
- Suez Environnement (7.1% of capital)
- Iberdrola ( 0.6% of capital )
On 1 July 2006, a stake in Bertelsmann ( 25.1 % of the capital - 25 % of voting shares) bought back. Thus Bertelsmann heard again completely the Mohn family and a foundation - and the planned IPO of GBL was prevented.
The company Pargesa Holding SA in turn holds 50.0 % of GBL (31 December 2008 ). Since GBL holds even 3.6 % of its own shares, is Pargesa majority owner of the GBL. The company Pargesa turn belongs to 54.3 % to the company Parjointco, each of 50% by the company Groupe Frère-Bourgeois/CNP and 50% by the company Power Financial Corporation, ( 2005). Mighty man behind this nested structure is Albert Frère.
GBL held in the 80s a minority share of Drexel Burnham Lambert.
