Groveland, Massachusetts is a small town in New England, Massachusetts on the East Coast of the United States. It is located in the northern part of Essex County, bordering Boxford, Georgetown, Haverhill and West Newbury. The city is divided into two districts, Groveland and South Groveland and is part of the 6th District of Massachusetts (Massachusetts 's 6th congressional district ).

History

Groveland was originally the eastern part of the parish of Bradford, which belonged to the town of Rowley. Before Bradford was isolated in 1672 from Rowley and renamed Bradford, the town was known Rowley on the Merrimack, or only Merrimack ( the river Merrimack River). Bradford was incorporated in 1897 to Haverhill. Groveland was collected on September 9, 1850 a separate town from Massachusetts, which is why this day is celebrated as Groveland Day of the inhabitants.
