GRP Records

GRP Records is an American record label for fusion, Latin and contemporary jazz.

Grusin / Rosen Productions (GRP ), was not yet founded in 1976 as a music production company, by pianist Dave Grusin and Larry Rosen mixer. 1978 went Grusin and roses into an alliance with Arista Records and began under the labels GRP and Arista / GRP bring out plates. With Dave Grusin Mountain Dance plate from 1979 GRP brought the first ( non-classical ) digitally recorded album out. 1980 ended with GRP Funkin 'for Jamaica, a song by Tom Browne Plate Love Approach a big hit. Another success was with the singer Angela Bofill. 1982 separated the label Arista. At the same time it published the first record label in the United States, all recordings on compact disc (CD). In 1987, GRP cooperation with MCA Records, among which they then adopted in 1990 and were conducted under the label MCA / GRP Records.

When MCA was transferred to Universal Music Group in 1995, Grusin and Rosen left the label. With the acquisition of PolyGram in 1998 by Universal Music and the following restructuring within the group, the label GRP eventually came under the umbrella of the Verve Music Group.
