The Gruselbus ( in the DVD Its uncanny class trip ) is a Dutch children's horror film from the year 2005. Directed by Pieter Kuijpers. The screenplay is based on the book De Griezelbus by Paul van Loon.

Action

Onnoval is an imaginative boy who likes to write stories. He is in love with his school friend Liselore. When he sees that Liselore kisses his arch rival Gino, he seeks revenge. When the writer Nol van Paul holds a reading in Onnovals school and tells us the story of the mysterious Ferluci, Onnoval taken up with this contact. He concludes with Ferluci a contract. Onnoval thinks a story about a school trip, which will end badly for Gino. Ferluci to make truth this story. Then Onnoval noted that Liselore Gino has only kissed, to protect him from Ginos bullying. Now Onnoval must act and the evil Ferluci and his assistant Vlapono snatch his manuscript and rewrite the ending.

Name

The names of the protagonists make partial anagrams dar. Ferluci refers to Lucifer, his helper Vlapono is an anagram of Onnoval, which in turn is an anagram of " van Loon " and thus, just as the writer Nol van Paulo in the film is a reference to the author of the books, Paul van Loon.

Peter Kuijpers was honored for his film at the 2006 Chicago International Children's Film Festival, 2007 on the Leeds Young People's Film Festival.
