The Grünhornlücke is a transition between the two largest ice streams of the Alps, the Great Aletsch Glacier in the west and the Fieschergletscher in the east, both of which drain away to the south into the Valais. She's a little more difficult and often committed transition for mountain climbers. Nearby alpine bases are the Konkordia huts at Aletsch and the remote Finsteraarhornhütten Fieschergletscher at the foot of the Bernese highest summit, the Finstaarhorn ( 4'274 m above sea level.
