Grupello-Haus

The Grupello house on the market square 4 in Dusseldorf was built by Matteo Alberti in 1706.

Duke Johann Wilhelm gave in 1708 the house of the sculptor Gabriel de Grupello. It is a three-storey building. Originally, it was above the portal two feminine ideal busts lead the sculptor Grupello. The busts are now in the City Museum. On 16 November 2012, two replicas were inaugurated concrete casting. In 1748 Elector Karl Theodor bought the house and rented it to the later Academy Director Lambert Krahe. From 1769 inhabited Governor Earl of Efferen the house, which is why it is also called Gouvernementshaus. Later, the police department was housed in this building temporarily. Since 1818 it has been a gift of Prussia property of the city of Dusseldorf.

Heavily damaged in the war home has been simplified. 1969, a new meeting room of the town hall was opened in the house.
