Grupo de Operaciones Policiales Especiales (Chile)

Grupo de Operaciones Policiales Especiales ( GOPE ) is a team of special operations forces of the militarized police Chilean Carabineros de Chile.

The units of GOPE be used for dangerous situations police work throughout Chile. Their tasks include finding and defusing of explosives, hostage rescues and arrests under difficult conditions.

History

The Grupo de Operaciones Policiales Especiales was founded on June 7, 1979 with the entry into force of a federal statute, and their tasks decreased the 1980s.
