Gryazovets

Gryazovets (Russian Грязовец ) is a small district town with 15,528 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ) in the Vologda Oblast to the north of the European part of Russia.

Geography

Gryazovets is located approximately 450 kilometers northeast of Moscow and 47 km south of the regional capital of Vologda on the river Rschawka from the river system, the Volga River. By Gryazovets leads the Russian highway M8. The nearest towns are next to Vologda Ljubim (64 km south-east of Gryazovets ), Sokol (65 km north) and Kadnikow (68 km north).

History

Gryazovets was first mentioned on 17 June 1538 a document of the monastery, founded in 1497 Korniljewo next to 12 other villages.
