Location

Gschnitz is located in the rear part of the Gschnitztal which opens in Steinach am Brenner in the Wipptal. The municipality extends to the end of the valley ( with the 3277 m high hawk ) and forms the southern border to South Tyrol ( Italy).

The municipality is otherwise contrary to the neighboring village of Trins from widely scattered individual courtyards, some of which are decorated with baroque paintings. The building boom in recent decades has led to a compression of the settlement.
