Geographical Location

Gschwend has a share in the three natural areas Eastern Albvorland, virgin forest and Welzheimer Forest and the Swabian- Franconian Forest, all of which are part of the Swabian Keuper- Lias country. History

Frickhofen, which was first mentioned in a document from 1293, is the oldest documented place in the community. However, it is believed that there was a settlement Gschwend since the mid-12th century. Not much later the forest will have been cleared by Gschwend. Customs

Sheaf cart

Every year at the beginning of the harvest season, usually on the first weekend in August, a decorated sheaf car with the first sheaves in the festive escort of children and the ringing of bells, of horses, the church is drawn on the marketplace.
