GTV (Ghana)

Ghana Television is a Ghanaian radio station, which is operated by the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation since its first broadcast on July 31, 1965 mainly (80% of programs broadcast ) sends Ghanaian productions.

Ghana Television only broadcasts via satellite (NSS 7 ( 11635 V) ) and transmits a day one hour CNN International, German wave and Worldnet. Director of GTV is Kofi Bucknor.

History

Already on November 6, 1959, the Government of Ghana decreed the establishment of a separate television channel for the entire country. 1961, a contract was closed for technical support with Canada and founded in 1963 a training center for television productions in Accra under the supervision of two representatives of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. On 31 July 1963, the then President of Ghana Kwame Nkrumah inaugurated the age of television in Ghana. 1965 sent Ghana Television still about 17.5 hours per week, today there are 140 hours a week.
