Guadalcanal, Seville

Guadalcanal is a municipality in Spain, in Andalusia, in the province of Seville, 110 km north of the city of Seville.

The municipality has 2861 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). It is the birthplace of the navigator Pedro de Ortega, who has designated the Solomon Island of Guadalcanal after her in 1568.

The name of the village comes from the Arabic name Wadi al- qanat / وادي القنال / Wādī l - qanat.
